Spanish IT employment resources

All sites are in Spanish only, apart from those marked with an (EN). These are either English-only or have English translations available.

General Information Sites and Directories

Universal Currency Converter (EN)

International Salary Calculator (EN)

Spain Alive (EN): general information on Spain, with a limited classifieds section.

Expat Access: (EN) guide to living in Spain

Lycos Empleo

Typically Spanish (EN): Web directory with some business and employment links. Good site for general Spanish information and links.

INEM: Instituto Nacional de Empleo, the Spanish Government's employment agency. A little out of date but lots of information on legal matters etc. Some Public Sector job advertisements.

Google Directory Spain (EN): in English.

Google Directory - Bolsas de Trabajo: Comprehensive list of Spanish jobboards - see below for quick reviews of some of these.

Becas: La información sobre becas, cursos y bolsas de trabajo. Loads of links to rec. sites, employers etc.

Online Newspapers

El Mundo classifieds: Follow "Ofertas de Trabajos" link. Jobsearch, no keywords.

Los Clasificados: Part of La Vanguardia, Barcelona's main newspaper.

Excoge: employment and accomodation classifieds of El Pais. English ads (allows search by language), keyword search, lots of IT. Has HTML and PDF versions of ads taken from the paper.

Barcelona Metropolitan (EN): Barcelona expat paper with some job ads. Good guide to moving to BC and jobhunting in Spain for English speakers.

Job Sites

Spain has a large number of online job boards, a selection of which are listed below. Of these, Monster and Infojobs seems to the best, followed by JobPilot and GoJobsite. Most sites are very similar and offer the usual tools: candidate registration, CV upload, alerts, keyword searching etc. Some sites also have English jobs ads - the easiest way to find these is to do a keyword search on a common English word (e.g. "the") as few sites allow you to filter searches by language.

Monster.es: lots of IT jobs, some in English. Useful e-mail alert system.

Infojobs.net: seems to be the largest and most comprehensive of the Spanish IT jobsites. Some English adverts.

GoJobsite: good search system and alerts. Lots of IT posts (some in English), though it fails to filter out ads for posts outside Spain.

TrabajoFacil: Single sign-up and CV upload allows you to create accounts and send your details to all the following job boards (useful if you're sick of typing the same information up over and over):

Segundamano.es: big classifieds site, includes a job section. No english adverts.

Empleo.com: some English, some IT. Lot of outdated jobs (e.g. 2 years old) on the system.

ABC Trabajo / TodoTrabajo: Some English adverts, but not many IT positions.

Anuntis Laboris: few English adverts.

JobPilot Spain: lots of IT, some English adverts.

Trabajo.org: few English ads.

Expansion y Empleo: some English ads

Guay.com Empleo: Uses the Infojobs.net job database.

Empleo Facil (ES): some English ads, some IT.

Compu Trabajo Espana(ES): limited number of jobs.

Infoempleo - several english IT ads.

TecnoEmpleo.com: only IT jobs, few English adverts.

Technovitae: many IT jobs, though few in English.

TobJobs.es: limited number of IT jobs, some in English. Over-complicated advanced search, no keywords on the simple search.

Finian Jobs: some IT jobs. Site uses really irritating full-screen pop-up adverts, and the advanced search doesn't allow keywords.

Jobline: Now part of Monster.es, so really not worth looking at.

Empleo Andaluz: Andalucia only. Few IT jobs, none in English. No keyword search and site seems a bit prone to JavaScript errors.

Andaluzes: Andalucia only. Seems to have the same jobs as Empleo Andaluz.

CyberSearch: requires registration before you can even search the jobs so I didn't bother.

Hispavispa Trabajos: Lots of IT jobs. Requires registration before you can use the advanced search.

OficinaEmpleo: pop-ups, clunky advanced search.

Un Trabajo: Few jobs in general, esp/. in IT. Lots of expired jobs on the system.

HispaJobs: jobsite for posts in Spanish-speaking countries, but has very few IT positions in Spain itself. Not worth the trouble.

Accion Trabajo: very few jobs in Spain.

Terra.es: few IT vacancies.

Recruitment Agencies

Spain has many private recruitment agencies, most of which carry IT vacancies. It is possible to find most of the positions advertised by these agencies on the jobsites listed above, without needing to visit the websites of the agencies themselves (temp agencies like Manpower and Adecco are the exception here).

Google Directory Espana - Agencias de selección

Michael Page Spain

Computer People (EN)

Elan IT Spain: site provides email address only.

Manpower Spain

Adecco Spain

Randstad Spain

SW Companies in Spain

The best way of finding out about individual companies is to use the employer directories on the bigger jobsites, e.g. Infojobs and Monster. These usually provide a profile and links to the company's home page.

Jobs at Microsoft Spain: for further information see http://www.microsoft.es

IBM Job Search: for further information see http://www-5.ibm.com/employment/es/

Community Sites

Way too many of these to mention. Most Spanish fan sites focus on the cultural or touristy aspects, though some do host discussions on employment and relocation issues.

MultiMadrid: website and forums packed with information on all aspects of living in Madrid. The forum on Work and Residency in Espana is particularly useful.

MadridMan: another general website ran by an American Madrid fan. The forum on Working In Spain is useful, although the posts tend to be mostly about issues for US citizens.
