OK, I am just a guy who is lucky enough to
live and work in the most beautiful city on earth. I am neither a graphic
designer nor a web designer professionally (which is probably why I spend 10
times the amount of time on this website than would any normal person who
knows what they are doing, je, je, je!). Thewebsite sprung from a passion for Madrid,
a love for digital photography and a
lust for web design. As a former teacher of Spanish in the U.S.A. (a big
helloooooo to all of my former students and coleagues from Bayport-Bluepoint
High School in NY), I enjoy sharing with others what I know about my adopted
city (and country). My ultimate goal is to be able to quit my
day job and maintainfor a living since it is what I most
enjoy. You will notice as you surfthat
I have designed it so that you never have to lose sight of the main page
with the PlazaCam. Each button either opens a multimedia file or a photo or
info page in a seperate window, making navegation very easy and comfortable
even for the most inexperienced Internaut. As you view the web, keep in mind
that it was designed to be the perfect supplement to the many informative websites out there
about Madrid. After many years of web surfing I
realized that what was lacking on the WWW was a web about Madrid that
focussed on the visual aspect of the city (the most beautiful aspect). There are many great sites about
Madrid that offer tons of helpful information on the city but you will have
noticed that most are lacking in visual content. That is what I
wantto
accomplish, I do not want to compete with other websites on Madrid but
rather collaborate with them and offer them my website as a tool to improve their's. This is why I offer a type ofMadrid
Community Program (see link at page bottom) to ANYONE who has a website on Madrid.
I have designed this website for all past, current and future Madrid Lovers
like myself and am always happy to answer your questions on Madird the best
I can. The most important thing I
want my visitors to keep in mind is that I am ALWAYS open to suggestions for
improving/expanding the site. So keep that good e-
coming!!! Don't forget to
fill out the mini form under the camera to get on my "multimadrid mad
mailing list" and recieve the latest news about what I am doing with my
website. If you want to learn more about theproject, you can click on
the "insider scoop" button below and see all sorts of videos and pics of the not so technical ("wacky"
would be a better word) side of.com
.
p.s. while surfing my site please try
to visit my sponsors (perhaps while you are waiting for a vidoe to download)
for they are what make my work possible and they provide useful services as
well.
p.s. s. I would liek to clear one
thing up since I get a lot of people asking me about the "legality"
of my situaltion here in Spain.
Well, for
those who may ask me how I am able to live and work legally in Spain (bieng
an American), I must admit that it was a stroke of luck. I was born in
Scotland at the very end of my father's 3 year Navy stint there so I am
entitled to both an American and British passport which makes me a member of
the European Community. I only spent 2 months in Scotland before heading to
NY (my home state) but it was enough to get a British passport which I did
not do until I was 26 (I did not even realize I was entitled to one until
then).
*live - I am usually in and out of my
madrid
chat room in the evenings (anytime
after 7 or 8pm Madrid time) and if you do not see me (my nick is
usually "Jer"), you can either e-mail me or send me an ICQ message
to invite me to chat with you.
